From the airport to the centre of Malaga you have different transfer options:

Taxi

The local taxi service is monitored by the authorities and is a popular means of transport even for the locals. You avoid parking problems by taking a taxi, but remember that during rush hour the traffic gets a little slow and there may even be a shortage of taxis. A taxi can take you from the airport to the centre of Malaga in around 20 minutes for approximately 20-30 Euros.

Train

It takes approximately 30 minutes to get to the centre of Malaga by train which leaves every 20 minutes between 6.00 am and 12.00 pm. The closest stations to the city centre are two: the train station Maria Zambrano, which is located on Explanada de la Estacion in Malaga city centre. From the central train station the national trains connect Malaga to the rest of the Andalusian capitals as well as Madrid and a few other destinations. The local trains connect Malaga with Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Malaga Airport. The second option is Malaga-Centro Alameda, closer to Larios Street (the main street) and the rest of the old city centre. The single ticket is about 1,80 euros, depending on the stop you choose.

Bus

You can take the airport bus (Line A) to Malaga. This bus costs 4€. The bus leaves the airport approximately every 30 minutes until 0:00. Regular bus tickets cost 1.40 € (drivers cannot accept bills greater than five euros); a ten-ride card costs 8.40 € (it can be purchased at kiosks and newsstands).The central bus station is located on Paseo de los Tilos, next to the central train station María Zambrano. From the central bus station in Malaga it is possible to find connections to all the provinces of Spain as well as to some international destinations. Taking a bus in Spain is normally the cheapest alternative when you wish to travel within the country. It is the only public transport into the smaller surrounding villages.

Car

This is generally an easy way to get around, although you may encounter delays at rush hour (early morning from 7 am to 10 am approximately and around 8 pm). It is recommended to leave the car in a supervised car park. Car rental is fairly cheap in Spain, particularly due to the intense competition between the many companies. There are both international and national car rental companies, but generally Spanish companies offer cheaper rates.
